Experience
I began tutoring at the Gavilan College Tutoring Center in 1996. From that time on, I have continued to seek out opportunities to help others learn and overcome academic obstacles. I always incorporate general study skills in my tutoring sessions along with course-specific material. I have worked with all ages, from a special-day preschool class through college seniors. I have taught as a substitute and a classroom teacher, but I prefer to work individually with students as a tutor. I tailor my teaching style to match each student's unique learning style, needs and interests. I am happy to work with homeschoolers as a primary instructor and can help you create a curriculum for the year.

I am an amateur piano player/artist/seamstress. I love learning new things. My daughter wanted to learn how to knit, so we are learning together. If I go a day without reading, then something is very, very wrong. I read fiction and non-fiction. Some of my favorites include...anything by C.S. Lewis, Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan, Unbroken and Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy by Tolkien. I'm not very athletic, but I do enjoy getting outside to go for a hike or bike ride or just to enjoy the redwoods, steams, and ocean in this beautiful part of California.
